Having emerged from the heart of the dubstep scene, 19 year old London-based DJ / Producer Dream has garnered the attention of all the right people. Epitomizing the creative freedom of a new generation of electronic music artists with his excitingly indefinable bass led productions, he has picked up support from some of the leading tastemakers of the sound. Following releases on X147 and H.E.N.C.H, he is now stepping up to OWSLA for his latest single, ‘This Isn’t House’ which has quickly become a mainstay in the records bags of heavy hitters like Skream and Benga.
This inimitable offering sees the young producer blending the heavyweight structures of dubstep with euphoric rave-induced melodies to create a track that is as addictive as it is powerful. Drifting in on a wave of expansive chord progressions and shuffling percussion, cavernous snares crash against reverberating bass swipes as the track unfolds. Unpredictable LA-based producer Flinch steps up to take on the original, switching it up with sawing synths, disjointed vocals and a hyperactive, morphing bassline before Topher Jones transforms the track with his unique brand of big room house, injecting it with kinetic percussion, carefully crafted melodies and a billowing bassline. Completing the package ascendant Chicago native LoBounce turns in a characteristically genre-defying remix that lowers the tempo further, using the bass as the core around which he spins intertwining melodic layers and builds a robust groove.
Already being backed by dubstep luminaries like Skream, Benga, Chase & Status and Mistajam, and fresh from successful tours in Australia and Canada, Dream’s sound is spreading quickly, and with this single as evidence this will not be slowing down any time soon.
