Official Press Release

Following releases from label lynchpins Trolley Snatcha and Emalkay, with the ‘Subtext’ EP and ‘Flesh & Bone’ remix EP respectively, we are happy to announce the debut release from a new artist on the label. We welcome young London based producer Mydas to the fold with an exceptional four track EP. This will act as the perfect introduction to the new artist, showcasing his varied production talents and unique sound. Taking the heaving subs and neck snapping drum beats that are synonymous with the label, he brings cinematic soundscapes with a healthy dose of soul.

Opening track ‘What I Do’ introduces the EP on a poignant note with its sombre keys and emotive vocal flourishes without forsaking any of the force at its fingertips, driven by the bubbling subs and electric midrange. ‘Fall’ then sweeps in on a lush bed of glistening keys, soft vocal flourishes and a skipping drum line before crashing back down to earth with waves of warping bass tones blasting through the low end of the track.

Counterpointed by the soaring synth notes that flicker above, Mydas balances the light and dark elements brilliantly. Next, ‘If I Ever’ builds atmosphere with its smooth drum shuffle and crystalline chords, swelling into the track’s release with bright synth flourishes, smooth bass notes and a hollow snare crack that keeps it firmly anchored on the dance floor Mydas then takes on Antiserum & 12th Planet’s collab ‘Purple & Gold’ flipping the colourful synths from the original and funnelling them through the maniacal waves of bass that run through the track. Last but by no means least, ‘Where The Rivers Flow’ rounds off the EP on an epic note. The lurching drum cycle, warm vocals and expansive pads melt into each other making room for the warm, driving bass line and shimmering melodic touches to hold the track aloft. As well as being the fifth track on the EP, this will be made available as a free download.

Mydas’ debut release is a bold statement of intent. Setting out his stall with a unique and accomplished four track EP, it undoubtedly marks him out as one to watch. We will leave you to get acquainted…
