Infected Mushroom – Army of Darkness

Infected Mushroom – Army of Darkness

Official Press Release

Nowadays, it’s becoming increasingly uncommon for bands to spend years crafting an album that truly manages to push the sonic boundaries, but the electronic production duo Infected Mushroom – comprised of Amit ‘Duvdev’ Duvdevani and Erez Eisen – is ever an exception to the rule. Having spent close to two and a half years honing their eighth studio full-length release ‘Army of Mushrooms’, it is undeniably their most stylistically varied and accomplished to date. Reveling in the freedom of exploring electronic music’s many different facets, the album amalgamates dubstep, drum and bass, electro, glitch hop and trance into their inimitable bass heavy concoctions.

“It’s been ready for a while, but we kind of changed the album all the way up until now,” explains Duvdevani. “It’s basically a brand new album that was intended to be out last year. A lot of material came in at the last minute and a lot of new influences. I think it’s a huge difference because the album is much more diverse now than it was before – sound-wise and music-wise. This album has the most diverse electronic music genres that we have ever had before. On this album we have drum and bass, dubstep, electro, trance and glitch hop.”

The first single from the album, ‘U-R-So-Fu**ed’, saw the duo experimenting with the fertile creative ground of dubstep, replete with metallic bass tones, infectious synths and their sense of firmly humour intact. Its accompanying video was shot in HD and features the pair matched up agains Argentinean wrestlers Lilian Pavone and Norma Alvarez. Check it out here: http://youtu.be/dpFzESVN-xU.

On the other hand, second single ‘Nation of Wusses’ was a super-charged slice of electro led by the glitchy bass manipulations and 4×4 beat. Meanwhile, other tracks on the album include heavyweight collaborations with Borgore, Zedd and Zia Macovich.

Within a week of the album’s release it has received phenomenal support internationally and received praise from all degrees of the spectrum. In the US it has already hit No.1 in the iTunes dance charts and No.1 in the album charts on Beatport. Similarly it has hit No.1 in the dance charts in Canada, Denmark, Sweden and Finland, gone top 10 in France and Mexico and is already in the top 20 in Germany and the UK.

To support their new release, Infected Mushroom will tour with a brand new stage show.  Departing from a band format, the new live performance will feature only Duvdevani and Eisen set against an incredible three dimensional landscape, designed by Heather Shaw of Vita Motus Design Studio (Amon Tobin ISAM).  Vello Virkhaus of V Squared Labs has taken up the challenge of creating and mapping the media content onto the structures, which will bring Infected Mushroom’s visual and sonic journey to life. The show was officially unveiled recently at a sold-out night at Avalon in Hollywood, CA, to massive fan and critical acclaim. *Information on world-wide tour dates to follow soon.

ABOUT INFECTED MUSHROOM:

Originally formed in 1997 and hailing from Kiryat Yam, Haifa District, Israel, Infected Mushroom has certainly left their stamp on the electro dance and rock genres, having worked with the likes of Perry Farrell (Jane’s Addiction) and Jonathan Davis (Korn), in addition to twice being voted among the world’s “Ten Best DJ’s” in DJ Magazine (however, they do not DJ). In the process, the group has issued such hit albums as 2009’s Legend of the Black Shawarma (which peaked at #9 on Billboard’s Top Electronic Albums chart) and scored such dance hits as “Killing Time” and “Smashing the Opponent.”
